Forty-one percent of U.S. adults would give themselves a grade of C, D, or F on their knowledge of personal finance. This is a significant increase from 2010 when about 1 in 3 adults, or 33 percent, rated their knowledge of finance so poorly.

Forty-two percent of American adults learn about finances primarily from their parents or at home, yet 3 in 4 (76 percent) admit they could benefit from a financial professional’s advice and answers to everyday financial questions.
